Big Hill stretches from Dryden to Pennington Gap along the Powell River

 

The Big Hill Community lies south of Veteran's Memorial Highway between Dryden and Pennington Gap, Virginia and stretches the top of Big Hill for about 5 miles. Entrance to Mother's Place is easiest from Dryden on a paved road.

 

 



Just 50 miles East of Cumberland Gap and the tri-state region of Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. 13 miles West of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, 24 Miles (or so) South of Harlan, Kentucky and 45 miles Northwest of Kingsport, Tennessee, 2.5 hours Northeast of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and 9 hours West of Virginia Beach or as we like to say here..."where Virginia begins".

Dryden has a Dollar General for your convenience and gasoline. Restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, ATMs, etc. are located in Pennington Gap.

ATTRACTIONS: Cave Springs Recreation, a part of the Jefferson National Forest is located about 10 miles to the North on Cave Springs Road with walking trails and shaded picnic areas.  Lee Theatre offers entertainment most weekends, some live performances, some movies. Leeman Field in Pennington Gap offers seasonal swimming, horse arena and stables, a walking/biking greenbelt, area Little League fields, basketball and tennis courts, weekend Farmer's Market, tractor pulls and horse shows. Picnic pavilions are available by reservation through the Pennington Gap Town Hall. Stone Mountain Trailhead is located at Leeman Field.

Dryden is four miles east of Pennington Gap, and 12 miles west of Big Stone Gap

Located conveniently from  the four-lane,.  Peace and quiet with town nearby. This furnished 5 bedroom sleeps 9, 2 bath, full kitchen, large screened porch. This beautiful, renovated 1896 Victorian farmhouse has  mountain views, cows and abundant wildlife. Large yard for celebrations or family cookouts.
